As the clouds of recession are fading out from the IT sector, the Technopark here is gearing up to accord a red-carpet welcome to major players in the IT sector.
HCL, one of the leading IT firms in the country, is planning to set up its own campus at the Technopark. Many other companies have also applied for space in the upcoming Phase-III expansion of Technopark.
Technopark Chief Executive Officer Mervin Alexander, conforming this, said that HCL had sought around two acres of space at the Phase-III project for setting up a research and development wing. ‘‘Things are at the initial stage only. But if it materialises, it would be the first R&D wing of HCL in Kerala,’’ Mervin told ‘Express.’
‘‘We also see bright prospects for the state’s IT sector in the coming years as many leading companies are approaching us for setting up new projects as well as expansion of the existing ones. Tata Consultancy Services, which had attained special economic zone (SEZ) status for setting up its own campus in the Technopark around a year ago, has now started construction activities. These are all positive signs,’’ he said.
At present, more than 150 companies are functioning in the Technopark.
